An Optical Image Stabilizer helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to four shutter speed stops to better enable working in low-light conditions and with slower shutter speeds. This stabilization system can also be combined with select camera's sensor-shift type image stabilization for more effective control of camera blur. An OSS mode switch offers selection between Mode 1 for general image stabilization suited to general shooting, a Mode 2 setting designed for panning movements, and Mode 3 for emphasizing framing stability when shooting moving subjects.

Designed with video applications in mind, flexible focus control is provided by features such as full-time DMF (Direct Manual Focus), Linear Response MF, and a focus-range limiter.
